The Primary 4s managed to muster a team on Sunday by supplementing the squad with some of the bigger Primary 3s.

First up was Glasgow East. The game was quite a tight affair, East Kilbride gaining and maintaining a buffer of two tries through most of the game. Brandon English and Peter Home were given the opportunity to show the skills they had garnered from playing the last four years with players a year older than them. They certainly didn’t disappoint. Some strong angled running and bone-crunching tackling gave an indication of this experience. It was also evident Brandon and his younger brother, Adam English, had spent large amounts of time during the summer holiday honing their wrestling skills as there were a few Glasgow East players sporting bumps and bruises from some great tackling. The final score was 6-4 to East Kilbride. Special mention to Calum Ferrie who, in the second half, realised his long stride was as equally effective at this older age group.

The final game was against Lenzie on the bigger adjacent pitch. With three Primary 4 players and two Primary 3 players, East Kilbride were allowed to play one of the smaller Primary 5s to make up a full complement of six. The game was played at a tremendous pace with some end to end action entertaining the crowd. On three separate occasions, East Kilbride tackled a Lenzie player short of EK try line, won the ball and ran the length of the park to score. Lenzie was winning at half time 3-2 but with some great team tackling and intelligent handling from Joseph Fegan, East Kilbride was able to pull away and record a 5-4 victory.
