What a 6 months our Ladies team has had. We competed in the SRU Aspiring League along with Paisley, Irvine, Uddingston starting in September at Irvine. We went with 6 player to this first game and it was stopped early for us with a bad injury to Millie. We then played at Uddingston and drew our first game. Next in October EK held their festival and it was plain to see the improvement we had with numbers and we won our first game and was close with the other two games on the day. Last up was away to Paisley in November and again we came away winning one of our games. The SRU had arranged different finals our league against the other league. So we were up against Cartha Thistles at Cartha. We fielded over 15 players on the day and the ladies showed all the hard work we had been doing at training all came together and came away with a 35 to 5 win.
Next year 2023 all the teams in the Aspiring League are still in discussions with the SRU on how to proceed for the first half of the year. We all want eventually to be able to play a 15 a side game by the end of the season..some teams like ourselves this looks a good possibility others may struggle.
Big plus for EK is two of their junior players have played for the senior team. We have another couple due to come of age in the next few months so we have a pathwayi
