EK's Under 18's recorded their seventh successive win with an impressive away victory at Cumnock. After a couple of poorer performances of late, EK seemed determined to get back on track right from the off.
After camping in the opponents 22 and battering away at the try line, eventually Simon Mukulamani powered his way over from short range. Next up was a great team try finished off in the corner by winger Callum Connelly-Tennock after good work from centres Sam Hume and Harry Taggart.
EK kept up the pressure and the next score, after a quick tap penalty, fell to Kieran Noble.
There then followed a niggly period , which meant the half time score was 0-17 for EK.
One of the strengths of this squad is the depth. EK rang the changes early the second half and, if anything, the performance improved. We are fortunate that we can bring on players with the pace of Gordon Richardson, Grant Dryburgh and Callum Field. There was no let up and Cumnock barely got out of their own half, let alone looked like scoring.
First up was Simon Mukulamani with his second try, after more good work from his fellow forwards. Then second row James Westland was driven over following a lineout catch for the next try.
Pacy winger Callum Field scored in the corner following great interplay between backs and forwards. Captain Connor Wilson wound up the scoring with the last try, again being driven over from a lineout.
Ethan Aitken added 4 conversions, so the final score was 0-43.
Special mention for Ryan Adamson, who had an outstanding match today!
This keeps the 18's top of the league with the final game away at Dalziel in 2 weeks. It has a 12noon kick off because of Scotland's international against Argnentina at Murrayfield.
