This was EK's final conference game at home. A solid victory ensured that they maintained their 100% home record, winning five out of five.
This match was EK's hardest game. A combination of tough opponents and too many EK players having an off day meant the game was hard work from start to finish.
EK started brightly enough and, following a great Kieran Noble turnover, Ethan Aitken raced down the blindside into the corner . He roundned it off with a great touchline conversion to make it 7-0.
EK remained on top for the rest of the half, with Livingston barely getting beyond halfway. However, despite territory, EK struggled to get enough clean set piece ball to create opportunities. When they did, errors meant the chance went begging. Eventually EK did put enough phases together to create space for back rower Sam Park to score just before half time. Ethan added the extras to make it 14-0 at the break.
EK started the second half on the front foot and pacy winger Callum Field scored a great try running in from halfway!
But rather than putting the game to bed, EK went to sleep allowing Livingston to get a hold of the game. The visitors dominated the remainder of the game, scoring two tries from defensive lapses. EK were in danger of letting the game slip completely, but in fairness to them, they rallied well to finish the stronger team in the last 5 mins.
Final score 19-12. The boys were disappointed as they know they can all play better, but another win keeps them top with two games to play.
Next week: EK are away to Cumnock next week, 2pm kick off. All support welcome.
