U18s sweep Greenock aside

Unfortunately Greenock could only muster 10 players for their home fixture, which is disappointing given that for the second week in a row EK coaches had to leave boys out of the squad . If Greenock told us they were short of players, everyone could have been involved. As it was, EK let them have five players and played a full match.

The tone was set when Ethan Aitken scored after only 26 secs, racing under the posts following an interception. Next up was strong running full back Scott Donald crossing after good work from the forwards.

Callum Field then scored his first of the season with another interception on halfway. Centre Kyle Dixon scored next following quick turnover. Scrum half Sam Connery scored the final try of the first half from close range. Three conversions from Ethan Aitken made the score 31-0 at the break.

Following a lot of changes, EK kept up the pressure in the second half. Simon Muklamani scored his first try for EK in over a year following an offload from Kyle Dixon.

Then it became the Harry Taggart show. In his first game back after a broken shoulder, he grabbed a hat trick in the space of 10 minutes.

Grant Dryburgh scored next following another great move between forwards and backs. Ethan then managed to score against us for Greenock, the third time one of our players has scored against us this season!!!

Prop Aniello Sciallo barged over for the final try. Four second half conversions from Grant made the final score 69-7.

Fair play to all the boys who all took a turn at playing for the opposition. Another great victory.

Next week: there is no scheduled fixture, unless the coaches arrange a friendly match.
