Fantastic display by U18s to gain some satisfaction, beating Allan Glens who have had jinx on them recently

Written by U18s coach Murray Aitken; grammar, punctuation & sub editing from the editor - Murray is lost without his secretary lol!!:

Wow! An incredible display from the 18's today (Saturday). Old foes Glens were the visitors to Torrance House, and having narrowly beaten us in last year's Shield Final, and again earlier this season, the boys were desperate to get revenge.

The U18s were given a week off training after the last conference fixture to allow them to fully concentrate on this match (really I just wanted a few days to myself, but don't tell anyone!). They didn't disappoint. Such was the desire to put on a show that we had 28 players to select from. Having to narrow it down to only 22 was incredibly tough for the coaches - but that's why we earn the big bucks.

EK were all over Glens from the start, with ferocious defence and a willingness to move the ball wide at every opportunity . Ethan Aitken opened the scoring, racing in from halfway, following quick hands after a turnover.

Next on the scoresheet was captain Connor Wilson barging through defenders from the 22. Arguably the try of the day was next up from Calum Connelly-Tennock (what a relief it was not an Aitken, says the editor!), running under the posts following a great set piece backs move.

Glens scored with a long range penalty to get on the board. But EK would not let up and they ended the half with Ethan Aitken scoring his second following an offload from centre partner Kyle Dixon. The match reporter understands that Ethan's dad used to be some player!!

Half time 28-3 for EK.

There was no let up by EK in the second half although, for a while, the opposition wanted more of a wrestle than to play rugby.

Glens barely crossed halfway in the second period with EK well on top.

With such a strong squad , all the EK subs were used to keep the pressure on. Strong running centre Kyle Dixon scored the first try of the second half after good work from the forwards.

Ethan Aitken ran in his hat-trick outpacing the defence to the corner. Kyle Dixon grabbed his second under the posts and Garry Speedie rounded off the scoring. Six conversions from Ethan Aitken gave him a personal haul of 27 points ( big head - just like yer dad!!).

Make no mistake Glens are a top team at this age group and - we believe that - they have never lost a match game so heavily.
Well played boys - fantastic !! Let's keep this going.

Man of the Match - the sub-editor infers from this report that it was the coach's son, Ethan Aitken. And nothing wrong with that!

Next week - U18s (and Midi section generally) play Greenock Wanderers, with the U18s match at Greenock. Good luck.
