U18s back on winning trail again

The 18's got back to winning ways following last week's defeat against Allan Glens with an excellent home win against Greenock Wanderers.

EK were a little slow out of the blocks, but moved ahead after 15 mins when captain Connor Wilson barged powerfully through four or five defenders to score. Ethan Aitken was next to score, sprinting in from distance when the ball was moved wide after a turnover.

Stand off Craig Thomson was next on the scoresheet following a neat midfield move with centre Kyle Dixon. The last score of the half came from speedy winger Callum Connelly-Tennock, as he and full back Scott Donald returned a loose Greenock clearance.

Try of the match again came from winger Callum C-T, rounding of a great passage of play from forwards and backs.

Despite ringing the changes, EK continued to dominate, showing the strength of the squad. Connor Wilson scored his second following a textbook lineout catch and drive. The lineout timing between James Westland and hooker Josh Morris was a feature of the match.

Kieran Noble then stole a lineout from an under pressure Greenock team to dive over. The pressure was, by now, relentless and, after a powerful burst, Kyle Dixon selflessly put centre partner Ethan Aitken over for his second try of the day.

The final score was left to winger Gordon Moon who showed great determination to force his way over the line despite a packed defence.

It was encouraging that, despite the comprehensive victory, the boys were slightly disappointed with their performance - too many small mistakes prevented further scores.
