2nds finish league campaign with try bonus point victory
The 2nds had a good win at Cumnock today, 24-5. They scored 4 tries,but spurned about half a dozen others. Positive outcome with the first promotion play off looming on 24 March.
Although the 2nds have already won their league, and qualified for the end of season Promotion Play Offs, skipper Bruce Beggans was keen to maintain the winning momentum in their last league match of the regular season,away to Cumnock.
They achieved this with something to spare. They led 19-0 at half time through tries by Scott Aitken, Chris (Tophie) O'Neill and Stevie Lannon, with 2 conversions by person(s)unknown. A number of other opportunities went astray during the match.
Encouragingly, they continued to seek the try bonus point and this duly came from David Cowie, who just happened to be looking for one of his errant golf balls from his occasionally erratic drives last week at Troon.
Final score: 25-0. This leaves EK looking forward to their home match v Irvine in the Promotion Play Off Semi Final on 24 March, kick off 3 pm.
