EK 2s beat their Cumnock counterparts with a comprehensive victory over Cumnock at the Torrance House Arena today. The Man of the Match was youngster Fraser Stott who scored two tries.
They played some flowing rugby despite the wet and slippy surface, and dominated in the scrum. Big hits from second rows Andy Kampman and Andy Graham kept the visitors quiet. And last week’s Man of the Match Graeme (Grubby) Blackwood had several strong carries, as did Craig Ferguson.
Tries came from Stott (2), Grubby, Gregor Banford, Bruce Beggans, Scott Murphy and a new member – well, he finally paid his membership fees, Craig James Ferguson or Fat Fergie to his friend. He actually scored three tries last week and the match report will now be amended to record this feat, as has thankfully paid his dosh.
There was also a historic moment when Patrick (Kicker) Quigg scored his first try. At this point we have no details about his score. Some nasty team manager suggested that Patrick butchered several five man overlaps in his search for glory.
As an impartial observer, I am sure his try was a long-range effort achieved through his scorching pace and devastating hand off but sadly, we will never know. Perhaps I should ask President Putin what happened……
Man of the Match: youngster Fraser Stott. Let’s hope he also found time to give the referee the benefit of his experience!
Next match: there are no matches for the next two weeks because of the Six Nations so the next league fixture is at home to Kilmarnock on 18 February, with the return of 3pm kick offs.
