EK 2s travelled to Annan along with the 1s today. It must have been a hard week for manager Bruce Beggans looking for players as they turned up with only 15 men, and one of them was our President, Peter Hagerty, turning up for an afternoon perambulation on the right wing. Great commitment. Enjoy tomorrow morning!
Let's also give a mention to the injured Lewis Macfie who agreed to run touch for the 2s, when most of the focus was on the 1st XV match on the next pitch. Well done Lewis.
EK scored six tries during the match. I am not sure what the half time score was but they were ahead by at least three or four tries.
Scorers on the day were: David Rosie (2); David Bell; Dylan Brodie; Gregor (better not pass it to my dad) Hagerty; Scott Murphy who is so modest he did not want to admit scoring a try. So a well earned try bonus.
As ever, there were a few conversions - three to be accurate, from Patrick (Kicker) Quigg. And instead of wearing a post match Christmas Jumper, Kicker Quigg turned out as an elf. Have a look at his picture.
Man of the Match: Allan Steel was man of the match by a country mile. Having trained all week, Steely was somewhat disappointed not to make it on to the 1st XV bench as a super sub. So he used all his energy as a fleet footed stand off, guiding the others and winning good ball in the contact area, like all good stand offs!
Next match: the 2s have earned a good rest over the festive season (but not too much turkey, chaps). Their next match is on 7 January at home against Allan Glens.
