EK 2nds had a comprehensive victory at Clydebank yesterday, running in 12 tries through:
Scott Shankie (3)
David Rosie (3)
Gregor Hagerty (2)
Gregor Banford (a guess)
Alex Irvine
Tam Hughes and
Scott Henderson (another guess).
Patrick Quigg, having been denied a proper go at kicking last week, slotted a very creditable eight of out of twelve conversions, for a personal haul of 16 points. It seems that Scott Shankie raised himself from his sick bed specifically to protect his position as club top points scorer from the erstwhile Mr Quigg.
There are no details from the team management about the EK Man of the Match so all players can dream that they have been selected. The hat trick heroes may have a better claim than the rest, but data protection regulations forbid us from sharing this with you.
Equally, data protection or some other nonsense means that we have no real idea where this leaves EK in the league table, which before yesterday, seemed to be headed by Annan courtesy of some five walkovers i.e. their opposition failed to show. EK are currently listed as third, having won four and conceded one match when shorne of players who were dragged up to fill gaps in the 1st XV. We await news whether the forfeit might be overturned.
Next week: while the Autumn tests are underway, the 2s scheduled home match against Irvine this weekend, has been switched to this Friday evening (11 Nov) at Irvine, under floodlights with a 7pm kick off. All support welcome.
