Having overcome some difficult opposition to get to the final of the SRU National Shield East Kilbride travelled through to Edinburgh with high hopes of a successful outing. Sadly hopes were dashed early in the game as Lenzie showed what they were capable of if given possession and space. Statistics for the day show that Lenzie's wingers bagged 6 (3 each) of their nine tries, some of which came from breaks deep in their own half of the field. While Lenzie, when given possession used their pace and slick handling to run from deep in their own half and make space, to score with ease, EK worked hard for each of their 4 tries.
EK's scrum dominated the Lenzie pack in the set piece winning two scrum penalties. so this was a day on which the front row in particular could take happy memories. For this reason EK's player of the match, nominated by Alasdair Dalgleish, is Alistair Marriott.
With no game next Saturday the EK team will have two weeks to prepare for their next match, a home league fixture against Cambuslang on May 3rd before rounding off this season's league games on May 10th when Oban Lorne will be the visitors to Torrance House. Both games will kick off at 3 p.m.
